Forces of success are real, too real than success itself.
How many of us remember this trio rather, this picture, taken on their award day, at the finals of U17 World Cup Final played between Argentina versus Nigeria, where Argentina won with Nigeria as second (silver) by 3-2. In that tournament, the boy (now man) in the middle won the best player, the one on your right won the second and the one on the left, third place. Most Nigerians as usual argued the man on the right deserved the best player.
The year was 2005. See the March Final.
This year is 2021, the Wikipedia CV or testimony of the men;
+ In the middle is Lionel Andres Messi, born 24 June 1987, is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ligue1 club PSG and captains the Argentina national team. Often considered the best player in the world and widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Messi has won a record 6 Ballin d’Or awards, a record 6 European Golden Shoes, and in 2020 was named to the Balloon d’Or Dream Team. Until leaving the club in 2021 (August), he had spent his entire professional career with Barcelona, where he won a club-record 35 trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey titles and 4 UEFA Champions Leagues. A prolific goal scorer and creative playmaker, Messi holds the records for most goals in La Liga (474), a La Liga and European league season (50), most hat-tricks in La Liga (36) and the UEFA Champions League (8), and most assists in La Liga (192), a La Liga season (21) and the Copa America (17). He also holds the record for most international goals by a South American male (79). Messi has scored over 750 senior career goals for club and country and has the most goals by a player for a single club.
+ The man on your right is Mikel John Obi (born 22 April 1987) a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Kuwait Premier League club Kuwait SC.
+ The man on the left is Taye Ismaila Taiwo (born 16 April 1985) a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a defender for United Premier Soccer League club Palm Beach Stars.
+ They’re obviously age mate: born in 1987, 1987, and 1985 respectively.
+ They started, rather starred/came to the limelight same year 2005.
+ They started from big FC: Barcelona FC, Chelsea FC and Ajax FC respectively.
+ They played for their national teams.
+ Two of them captained the national team and the third was a highly valued player
+ They are handled by International Coaches and by international standards.
+ They, as footballers are above average say rich, etc.
Now, my question:
- WHAT MADE ONE OF THE AGE MATES A PHENOMENAL and the other two cut below?
- Why was the gap in ATTAINMENT from one to another COMPARABLE AS HEAVEN IS SEPARATE FROM EARTH?
Please follow me unbiasedly in this cogitation on why people go so/too far and why some cut down poorly in life, career, and pursuits. Because of my thinking aloud, I’ll divide it into Parts 1 & 2 only. Consider this as Part 1.
I may not know all the forces of success, (nor does it even matter, if I know or not). I know I have cited some earlier on in this book [my book: Dare Be a Success: Develop A Success Mentality and Succeed]. I choose not to cite more since that is not the theme of this book, but I know that;
– persistence
– teachability/learnability
– desire
– determination
– discipline
– information
– knowledge
– diligence
– character
– purpose
– power
– principle
– pneuma
– positioning
-priority
– plan
– people
– proficiency
– passion
– Attitude.
To me, it seems that attitude stands out too tall in the success equation…
But why did Messi go so far while Obi and Taiwo didn’t, because they were picked in the same tournament? What makes people (like Messi) go too far, others go AVERAGE, others go Am I not better than my brother? Do you remember the book, THE ENEMY CALLED AVERAGE by John Mason?
